Taste of New Tampa 2012 - Tampa FL 33647

This year, the Taste of New Tampa 2012 - Tampa FL 33647 (health and business expo new tampa) will be held at Wiregrass Mall (aka the Shoppes of Wiregrass) on Sunday, Mar 11th, 2012 from 12:00 pm to 6;00 PM.

The Taste of New Tampa 2012 (health and business expo new tampa) is the 19th annual New Tampa Health and Business Expo.  It is the main membership drive event for the New Tampa Chamber of Commerce. 

Every year restaurants from around Wesley Chapel, New Tampa, Tampa Palms, Lutz and Land O Lakes set up a booth and offer a demi portion of their partial menu.  Normally held at the Wharton High School, this year's Taste of New Tampa 2012 will be sure to have more event participation since it is the first year to be held at the Shoppes of Wiregrass, located at the northeast corner of Bruce B Downs Blvd and Florida State Road 56, approximately 1 mile east of interstate 75.

This year the Taste of New Tampa 2012 (health and business expo new tampa) will use technology to help with ticket presales.  Four total text message marketing codes will be in place, along with QR Code Marketing.  Both of these marketing vehicles will be just one more way that consumers can use technology, get a discount but more importantly, avoid the long lines.

Valpak, YCN (Your Community News), as well as the New Tampa Chamber of Commerce will run separate text numbers in each advertisement.

This year, the Taste of New Tampa 2012 (health and business expo new tampa) will have a few new first time events - A Beer Garden, Technology as well as a new venue.  We expect the crowd on Sunday Mar 11th, 2012 (weather permitting) to be upwards of 6000 - 8000 people with the reach extending to the Wesley Chapel community as well as Land O Lakes and Lutz.  People who may not normally come to the event when held at the high school.

As always, there will be booths of local businesses to offer crafts as well as other businesses to promote their brand. There will also be live entertainment at the Taste of New Tampa 2012 (health and business expo new tampa).

Follow Up to Going Green: New Curbside Recycling Program - St Petersburg, Florida

I spoke with Ian Boyle, who is the Government Affairs Manager at Waste Services Inc, who said that they are doing the best that they can to handle the large number of residents interested in the Saint Petersburg New Curbside Recycling Program.

Going Green: The New Curbside Recycling Program - Clearwater, Florida

One of the integral parts when you Buy a Home in Saint Petersburg, Florida is The New Curbside Recycling Program - Saint Petersburg, Florida.  Recycling of glass beer bottles, milk jugs, plastic water bottles (my weakness), newspapers, office paper, cardboard from frozen dinners and snacks is an essential part in helping the enviroment.  In fact, did you know that you can even recycle styrofoam?

The newest residential recycling program started today in Saint Petersburg, Florida.  Pinellas recycling programs have been integrated into Saint Petersburg, Florida starting October 1st.

Unfortunately, not everyone knows about it yet.  There are approximately some 80,000 potential Saint Petersburg Recycling customers that could participate in the Saint Petersburg Recycling program.  However, according to semi official estimates, only 800 have signed up so far.  In fact, just today, the new "Going Green" reminders are being included in today's utility bills being mailed to 80,000 potential Saint Petersburg Recycling customers today.

The reason for the lack of major advertising for the new Saint Petersburg Recycling Program, The New Curbside Recycling Program in Saint Petersburg, Florida is that the contract was just finalized last week with WSI.  This according to Bay News 9.  However, personally, I could not find anywhere to sign up at and the number of the company handling the contract is eternally busy.  I shudder to think what will happen when more and more people want to sign up for the program, but cannot!

Waste Services International will be handling the pick up of standard residential recycling materials in the Going Green: The New Curbside Recycling Program - Saint Petersburg, Florida. The cost of this service, according to the local news website is approximately $33 per year.  According to the same article, it is expected that only 31% of Saint Petersburg Residents will sign up for the new residential recycling program in Clearwater, Florida.

Here are some facts about recycling

Approximately 360 pounds of paper consumed in 2007 was recycled per person
Approximately 1 Ton of paper  saves 17 trees, 7k gallons of water, 3 yards (3) of landfill, along with enough oil and electricity to power an average American home for five months
Approximately 1-1/2 tons of materials used for construction comes from recycled paper each year
There is enough energy saved to run a computer (3 hours), or a TV (2 hours) or to power a 100 watt light bulb (20 hours) in a single recycled aluminum can 
Americans throw away enough aluminum to rebuild the entire US Air Fleet and enough iron/steel to supply the US Automakers on a continious basis

One thing to do in Tampa, Florida this weekend is AIRHEADS USA indoor trampoline arena in Tampa, Florida

This past weekend, the last one before Hillsborough County School District in Tampa, Florida start for the 2010/2011 school year was rainy.

How many times, as a parent, do you tell your kids – “Stop Bouncing Around!” However, do you fall short in finding things to do in Tampa for kids. As a parent of two young boys, those words have been uttered, spewed and screamed numerous times. I had to eat my words on Saturday. It wasn’t the first time. This time though, it was rather tasty. What words did I eat? “STOP BOUNCING AROUND!!!” .

On Saturday, however, I drove over to AirheadsUSA. Located at 5072 Linebaugh, Tampa. Handed each child a helmet, and said, “Please. Go. Bounce off the walls. I’ll come with you” Courtesy of AIRHEADS indoor trampoline arena, my children had the time of their life running, jumping, and yes, bouncing off the walls, floors, and occasionally each other (though that’s not encouraged). By the way, I had a pretty good time, too, as did all the other parents who were “treating” their children to a fun day on several hundred feet of trampolines. A dodge ball game between strangers (adults vs adults vs children) even got started.

 It Sure Does Smell in Here: The Spice and Tea Exchange - Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks, Florida

If you are new to the area or visiting, then one place to go is the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks. This past weekend, I took the family to the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, Florida.  This was the first time that my family had been, the second time for me.

All around are boats and trawlers.  Some are shrimp boats. Others are fishing vessels.  Intermixed with these are crab boats and sponge boats.  We took a nice 105 minute water excursion across the Anclote River to Anclote Key (home of an operational lighthouse, built in the 1800s).  Very nice, peaceful and scenic.

By the time we returned to shore, the shore party was hungry.  So we went to a very nice (and cool, as in air conditioned) Greek Restaurant that was steps away from the Sponge Cruise Vessel.  I had two gyros (should have had one because they were big!) and watched USA Soccer not do so well.

We walked down (west) Decodenese Avenue.  Tarpon Springs is a Greek community very rich in culture and traditions.  There is a very small aquarium that is at the end.  Speckled between are several small shops selling sponges, olive oils soap, and other wares. At lunch we had decided a few shops that we would visit.  One being the Spice and Tea Exchange at the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks. The docks sit on the Anclote River, approximately 4 or so miles from Anclote Key

From the moment I walked in - I sniffed the air.  Wow, it sure does smell in here (but that a GOOD THING).  Upon opening the door, you can smell the differents spices in the air.  I first noticed very smoky hues.  Along the west side of the store are salts.  Smoked Salts caught my eye, because I like to grill a lot and smoking food is tasty for me as I don't care much for extreme hot spicy foods.  I learned that one can smoke salt over certain types of wood (alderwood, applewood, chardonnay oak) but that you can mix them.  Such as Black Truffle Salt (Black Truffles are an expensive mushroom).  Did you know that there is even a chocolate salt (my mother would be in heaven!) 

So I settled for a few salts, one blend and two teas.  After my long drive how (I live clear at the opposite end of the county from Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks)  I put some chicken, brushed it with olive oil with a little Backwoods Hickory Rub. Cathy had told me at the store after throwing in an extra bag of paprika, try it with both, "a little dab will do ya" - Wow, now that's good chicken (I can see Cathy is going to get more of my money, maybe she will deliver for me or something)

So if you are visiting the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks, make sure you stop by and see Cathy at the Spice and Tea Exchange.  If you can't make it in person, they take internet orders also.
